The Conceptualization Of Well-Being
Health is a condition of emotional, physical and social well being where infirmity and illness are absent. Different definitions have been employed over the years for various purposes. These are used to assist people in identifying the changes they need to make in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and lead a healthy life. A few common questions asked by individuals include questions such as: What is health? ; how do you know if you have good health; and how can you get a good health picture?
The definition of “good health” differs for individuals as well as society at large, because it has been defined according to the extent of well-being rather than on the basis of having a normal quantity of health risks. People with low levels of well-being are said to be suffering from ill effects that affect their psychological health as well as their physical health. People suffering from illnesses, disorders, and diseases that interfere with their emotions as well as their physical health are said to have poor health conditions.
Individuals who are physically healthy but are coping with health conditions are said to have balanced functioning. This means that they are capable of dealing with the demands of everyday life without experiencing mental stress, pain, discomfort, or limitations. On the other hand, people who are mentally ill and do not have a healthy balance between their emotional well-being and their physical health are said to be suffering from emotional distress. Emotional distress could also manifest itself in the form of depression or personality disorders.
